Wachusett Chamber of Commerce
The Wachusett Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit organization that supports its members' growth and success and the development of a positive economic climate. The Chamber services the communities of Berlin, Bolton, Boylston, Clinton, Harvard, Lancaster, Sterling, West Boylston and nearby towns. Though they did not need a site redesign from us, we were able to help them update the functionality of the site considerably.
First let's talk about aesthetics. Previously, the Wachusett Chamber site had a width of 800 pixels wide. inConcert builds websites at a standard width between 900-950 pixels. We updated their site to be 950 pixels wide which allows for better viewing based on the higher resolution screens that are the standard these days. In addition to the site expansion, we added an image rotator to the home page. This image rotator can be managed and edited by the client at any time. We also added a "Chamber Tools" graphic. This graphic is clickable and shows a dropdown menu of some of the main interior pages that the Chamber members can use.
As far as functionality goes, the biggest upgrade to this site we made was installing a Content Mangement System. The Content Mangement System allows the administrators at the Chamber to make edits to their website at their own convenience. They can add, edit, or delete content, rotator images, and pages to the site. In addition to this system, a blog was installed allowing them to post news articles, Chamber information, and upcoming events. We also integrated a specific piece of software called ChamberMaster, which is what they use to manage their member records.
The Chamber also asked us to integrate an API Newsletter signup. This is a small field at the top of their site that allows viewers to subscribe to the Chamber email newsletter. When a viewer signs up, their email is automatically placed into the newsletter contact list within the Chamber's Constant Contact account. Finally, we helped with the navigation of the site by adding the breadcrumb feature to the interior pages. This feature shows the path in which the viewer got to the current page. (e.g. Home » About the Chamber » Board of Directors).
Though the Wachusett Chamber of Commerce did not need to buy an entire new website from scratch, they certainly allowed us to help them significantly upgrade their site. These enhancements will not only help those managing the Chamber website, but it will also assist the site viewers to successfully navigate and view all the benefits the Chamber has to offer.
